The First Seeds are Sown

Updated: Mar 19, 2021

As the world shifts around us we look to the elements of our lives that we CAN change and control, in turn this helps us gain a better understanding of our human connection to the environment, how food is produced and what we are eating.

Mount Pleasant Eco Park is a 45 acre community space on our door step. With support from owner and founder Tim Stirrup, dreams are becoming reality. Starting with a blank one acre canvas of Eco Park land we plan to bring water, power, people, polytunnels and plants together to produce delicious food boxes, and wholesale produce for local people and businesses.

We came together as a group of like minded people to bring our community a positive movement. With potential to impact our carbon footprint by reducing food miles and growing seasonal and chemical free food, we want to take you on the journey and share the process and produce with you along the way.

Factoring in field to plate, stock free, chemical free, no dig, green manures and intensive crop rotations, there is so much knowledge and technique to take into consideration. Horticulture is an infinite subject where skill sharing is a huge part of growing together.

Throughout these blogs you will meet the team as they apply their knowledge and experience to the Community Roots land. You may already tend to an allotment or garden and feel you would benefit from the experience of other growers or wish to learn more about how your food is produced. If you would like to support local projects and know you are doing your piece for the environment - sign up, follow the story as it unfolds and keep up-to-date with all the news and events

We will be releasing a questionnaire via our social media pages so that you can give your ideas on what you would like to see from the Community Roots Gardeners and Veg Boxes.

Would you like to see a veg stall with honesty box? What worries you about eating seasonal veg? Would you like to see a newsletter containing recipes on how to make your way through the gluts and hungry gaps. By signing up to the blog you can keep up-to-date with each part of the process, stay informed with events and learn with us along the way.
