About the event

Come and join Jaime Lock, a poet/writer/director from the Isles of Scilly, as they read from their debut pamphlet "She will need a stable boy". These poems celebrate trans identity, while being infused with images of the sea and Jaime’s home. While detailing a growing sense of self, their work also looks at family, love, desire, and the importance of friendship, while looking to their childhood with gentle nostalgia.

“Lock leads us through fields of transness, grounded by dreams of escape, shoals of trans guys in the gym, and rural rememberings. These are aqueous, honest poems of becoming. Dive in!”

Remi Graves

Jaime will be supported by a handful of 'Femmes', led by musical director Claire Ingleheart. This women+ group are known for their rich harmonies and bold interpretation of well known traditional songs as well as newly written shanties celebrating the lives and stories of Cornish women.
